Update on Hurricane Dorian
In the midst of hurricane season, keeping travelers safe is a main priority for members of the travel industry.
We understand that inclement weather may result in delayed or cancelled travel, as do many of our hotel partner who are extending their cancellation policies for those in areas affected by Hurricane Dorian.
Many hotels are also implementing emergency preparedness procedures, and are opening their doors to guests who need to find shelter during the storm. See below for information from some of our partners on their emergency procedures.
Choice Hotels International
Choice Hotels is implementing their Disaster Relief Program to help travelers and residents in the path of Hurricane Dorian. Choice has released a list of hotels open and available during this time, though cancellation penalties will also likely be waived for anyone traveling to the affected areas.
Hilton
Hilton is staying on top of the storm’s progress and making updates as they are needed. In many cases, affected travelers will have modification or cancellation penalties waived.
Hyatt
Many Hyatt hotels remain open throughout Florida, but cancellation fees are being waived and guests are expected to receive full refunds for any deposits or prepayments.
IHG
Those seeking lodging at IHG hotels in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carola may bring their pets, free of charge. IHG is also waiving hotel room cancellation fees during the impacted timeframe.
Marriott
Marriott has implemented storm preparedness procedures in the affected areas and will follow the direction of local authorities on evacuations or closures. Cancellation policies are under review at all local hotels as well, so we advise contacting your TMC for information about your reservation.
Air travel is also expected to continue to be impacted until the storm passes, and effects could ripple across the US as aircraft are repositioned or delayed because of the storm. This Business Insider article includes a list of airlines who have already issued travel waivers, including American, Alaska, Delta, Frontier, JetBlue, Southwest, Spirit, and United.
Please stay safe and contact your TMC if needed to cancel or modify your existing reservation.
